Lazuli Owl Snowglobe

Here's a rendering experiment that I've been working on! Really trying to tackle the unique simulation challenge that a snow globe presents. Been using my own globe as reference!

Modelled in ZBrush, materials sourced from both real life images and mixed in Designer and Sampler. Compiled and rendered in Stager.

Doing my best to simulate a snow globe object turned out to be a great technical learning experience, as well as a needed foray into lighting design and material workflows.

Modelling, but more importantly material expression and normal map creation/baking played a large role in achieving the final result. I also played a fair bit with opacity and translucency maps to tweak the makeup of the globe surface.

Final turntable. Overall I'm happy with the outcome of this experiment! The snowglobe effect is really seen during this vid!
